Margaret Ferguson Burns reported from Lakenheath: "Strangely, Suffolk Constabulary are protecting the United States Air Force, at RAF/USAF Lakenheath, from us making a peaceful non-violent protest - rather than protecting us from the United States Air Force with their United States Army security, personnel, F-35A Lightning II and the rest there - getting ready to send out couriers of global annihilation in the form of nuclear weapons-armed bombers. There's even the possibility that these cuckoos could one day turn on their host. What would Suffolk Constabulary do then? Suffolk Constabulary "Keeping Suffolk safe" - from what? Us with our heartfelt call for humanity, for peace and justice; or US nuclear weapons activity on our doorstep? Whereas we have a Red Line in our hearts and minds against nuclear weapons, USAF Lakenheath has a White Line, painted on the ground, to hold us out - no touching or crossing the line without threat of arrest. All very douce, and designed to minimise the perception of the dangers within. Get the US military out of our lands. Close the Bases before it is too late. https://cnduk.org/.../raf-lakenheath-us-nuclear-weapons.../ MFB xx |

BEYOND HUMAN RIGHTS - POSTPONED IN ERROR |

A mistake extended the deadline for submissions till the end of May! This has allowed us to squeeze in an extra exhibition from the Network of Photographers for Palestine - see the details about it below, and you have a bit longer to submit for this one! |

Secure Scotland’s exploration of the real meaning of security in our next exhibition is about extending the concept of security and welfare beyond the human-centred. We are actively seeking submissions. In “The Age of Insecurity” Astra Taylor points out that the wreckage we are making of the climate and the ecosystems arises from an exclusive concentration on human security without regard for the rest of reality. And, of course, an exclusively human-centred approach to security is chain-sawing the branch on which we precariously perch. (Book is available to buy from WandA) We are (still) actively seeking submissions (till end of May). Visit, email secretary@securescotland.scot or call Janet 07795594573 or David 07876593016 |

If we had 200 individuals or groups with a standing order for £10 a month we’d be able to plan and budget for months at a time. Find details on the donate page of the website. One-off donations are also appreciated, as are offers of volunteering with the welcoming duties! |
